Raven to snow
your long-legged long shadow
the payne’s grey trail
of your startled feather flight
Such contrast up against
the crunch of
hunker-down white
I saw your back today
pressed against my mind
in an old photograph
and I salivated unseen
if but just
to re-enter that most poetic seam
to find a rhyme or reason
Bamboo brush
to thin rice veil
the jet sure strokes
of your perfumed mail
(that lingers in a sighed exhale)
like the jazz that we once shared
gone but for this
and that
and him
and her
and someplace
over there.
